Knowing who you are comes from within

“You know you are much more than who you appear to be on the surface. The very fabric of who you are comes from within.”

ELIZABETH ROEBUCK-JONES

Who you are is inside you, that is the person you need to find and make shine to the world. When you live your life as others believe you should, or to fit in your are living a lie.

What happens when you live a lie is you live out of sync with your core beliefs and values, you aren’t you, you deny who you are.

Slow yourself down, pause and think. What do you get out of being what everyone else wants you to be? Is it a means to an end, or a way to impress people, do you just want to fit in. The question you need to ask yourself is – is it worth it?

No matter how zany, eccentric, or different you may be accepting that who you are comes from within and being yourself is the pathway to happiness. You see you are who you are; it takes great effort to be someone else.

When you are true to yourself, and you let your light shine from within you find your peace. Being true to yourself is the beginning of your journey of self-discovery. When you get to know yourself and are true to yourself, you live your life as you are supposed to live it, being true to your core values and feeling at home in your own skin.

Different does not necessarily mean bad. It is a state of mind. Different can also mean good. You can be different to every single person in the world and be absolutely sensational. You are fabulous because of your difference. Understanding what makes you different is a pathway to get to know yourself better.

Get to know your inner world and tune out the rest of the world and all its expectations. Connect with what it means to be you, get to know the person who lives inside of you and let them shine. Find out who you were meant to be rather than playing the part that suits everyone else.

Knowing yourself is about knowing yourself on the deepest level possible, not just your favourite colour or what music you like listening to or food you like to eat – it is so much deeper than that. This is a process of getting to know all of you the things you do well, but also your deepest insecurities and self-doubts. Take a serious look at who you are.

It isn’t easy, because looking inside yourself is hard, but being true to yourself is an amazing space to move into. When you allow your light to shine from within it means you don’t repress anything about you, it means you show your personality, you respect and express your life values and beliefs.

Knowing yourself frees you up to make choices that are true to you. To pursue the relationships that are right for you, to express yourself, to be creative. You get to know your strengths and weaknesses, your fears and desires, your goals and dreams. Most importantly you feel your passion, and you know your purpose, and you live to it.

You are not born knowing yourself, the people around you often know you better than you know yourself. That’s the irony of it. We end up being who they want us to be in response to our interactions with them, rather than being true to ourselves. Let your light shine; you are more than what you appear to be – the very fabric of who you are comes from within.

I empower women to make educated relationship choices, rather than change for their partner.

Choose, Don’t Change
